Here Tom examines the key lean lab concepts of levelling, flow, defined sequences and roles (standard work):
- Level the load and the mix as much as possible (Heijunka).
- Develop continuous Flow wherever possible (and less continuous flow elsewhere).
- Send Customer Demand to one Process Step - “Pacemaker” (and flow thereafter) and FIFO with no overtaking.
- Resource and Test to the Levelled demand rate.
- Standardise and Balance the work (via defined sequences / roles).
